Kids ISS Mission – Guess Who Expedition 27 Crew
As we gear up for Space Shuttle Endeavor’s final mission going to the International Space Station, let’s get to know the crew Endeavor will meet up with in space – the members of Expedition 27, now on-board the ISS.
Here’s your ISS mission:
What inspired the Expedition 27 crew members, when they were kids, to pursue a career as astronauts or cosmonauts? The crew shared their stories in recent interviews. You can see these videos playing on NASA TV, or you can read the stories by clicking on the “interview” link under the crew member’s picture on NASA’s Expedition 27 page.
Hope you were paying attention… do you remember which crew member was called Gagarin by his Kindergarten classmates? Who was at his grandparent’s 50th anniversary party when the first man stepped foot on the moon?
In the next part, you’ll print out a memory game that will let you test yourself on how well you know the ISS crew as you get ready for Endeavor’s rendezvous with the space station.
Print out the Guess Who Expedition Crew template on cardstock paper.
Have an adult cut out the hatches with an Exacto knife, leaving the center left edge intact as a hinge.
Then glue the back of the hatch page around all the edges, avoiding the doors themselves. Glue the hatch page on top of the page with the Expedition 27 crew members’ photos. Make sure it is properly aligned so you can see the photos through the openings.
Now it’s time to test your knowledge, and see if you can remember which astronaut or cosmonaut is hiding behind the hatch!
