Excellent Time-Lapse View of Springtime Night Sky
Here is a beautiful video I came across while on the search for time-lapse images of the night sky. This video is by William L. Castleman, taken near Fort Davis, Texas in April 2009.

The photographer explained in comments that you can see meteors from the Lyrid meteor shower, and the planet Jupiter rising at 00:35. He also gave some fascinating technical explanations of his method in creating this video. It is way beyond my understanding of photography (for now!) but it does tell us that this is not quite what you would see with your eyes, and yet he says the view of the Milky Way is still impressive (some describe as seeming like storm clouds on the horizon).
